Why I switched from Trello to Notion for project management (and never looked back)

A behind-the-scenes look at the limitations that pushed me to build my own project tracker in Notion.

I loved Trello for years. But as my freelance business grew, I hit a wall: I couldn't see all my projects in one place without endless scrolling. I needed a system that combined tasks, deadlines, client info, and notes without juggling 15 boards.

I built a Notion project tracker that puts everything on a single dashboard. Each project gets a page with a timeline, checklist, client contact details, and a running notes section. I can filter by status (Active, Waiting, Done) and see due dates in a calendar view. It's like having a personal assistant that never sleeps.

The best part? I can share a view with clients so they see progress without seeing my internal notes. No more 'what's the status?' emails. If you're outgrowing your current tool, consider building your own — it's easier than you think, and I've packaged my exact setup as a template.
